Scale maps dynamically

- [Instructor] When you view a map on a web server, you can usually determine the scale by looking at the bottom right corner and finding a scale indicator. For example, one inch equals 50 miles. In Tableau 10.2, the programming team added the ability to add a scale indicator to your maps. I'll show you how to do that in this movie. My sample file is the scale map workbook. My map shows earthquake data or occurrences and you can see that there are quite a few of them near Alaska and along the Aleutian island change. I have no idea though of what the map represents in terms of scale. How many miles per inch and so on. So what I want to do is to display the scale indicator. To do that, I will go to the map menu and then click map options and from map options I will select or check the show map scale checkbox. When I do, I see that this amount of space here is about 500 miles so if I click the close button I see that I have about 500 miles and if I use the scroll wheel to zoom in I see…
