- The first thing to consider when we're building our Dashboard is the sizing. This is important for two main reasons. Firstly, how much space have we got to play with, because this is going to determine how many elements we can fit into our Dashboard. This is also going to determine a few of the layout options that we have. The second thing is where is this Dashboard going to be viewed. And, when it comes to Dashboard sizing, there are a number of steps we're going to have to do. Firstly, determine where it's going to be viewed. If possible, survey the people that going to view that Dashboard. If you know it's going to be on a desktop machine maybe go around and talk to the people that have that desktop and find out what screen size they're using. Once we know that, we should then fix the maximum Dashboard size, but we might have to consider custom device layouts if a Dashboard needs to be viewed on both a desktop and maybe a mobile device.
