- [Narrator] Often our data set is gonna contain large amounts of information. We often want to filter it down or highlight only the parts that we are interested in. In this example, we're looking at all of our customers and we've split them out by profit and quantity. What we'd like to be able to do is highlight the ones from a particular state. There's a couple ways that we could do that. We could put state on a color shelf, for example, but if we do, and then we remove country, we've now colorcoded each one of the states with different color. However, this makes a big mess. Tableau's repeated the same use of the 20 colors because we have more than 20 states. It's very difficult to see any kind of pattern or highlight those states that we're interested in. Another way we could do this is put state on filter. So here we've just created a drop-down filter where we could look at an individual state. If we change it to be a single value, we could then click through each of our states…
