A tour of the Tableau Prep workspace
- This is the Tableau Prep workspace, which consists of a number of different areas. First, we have the connection pane. This can be found on the left of the screen. This is where we are going to connect to our data sources. We have a number of options here. It might be a local file such as PDF, or Excel file. Or, we have many options to interact with data on service. This list is being added to all the time as new versions of Tableau Prep come out. So, if you can't see your server on here, please check out the Tableau server forums, where they may be asking for more information about why you want to connect to that data set. After connecting to data, we're going to build a flow in the flow pane in the top half of the screen. This is where we use visual drag and drop to build a flow to compare our data. There are a number of different steps used in the flow, and these join the data, covert the data, clean, prepare it for novices later on. The middle pane is the preview pane. This is a…
