UXPin Dashboard

- When you log into UXPin, the dashboard, which you're looking at right here, is the first place where you'll arrive. Unlike other dashboards, this one is feature-laden. So let's go take a look around, shall we? The first dashboard screen you encounter, lists the projects that are currently on the go. And as you can see, I've got three here that are being worked on. The manage your team link, right up here at the top, is quite interesting. Click it, and you get to enter a team roster based on the role of each member of the team. And what the members of the team have permission to do within the team's structure. Once you have that in place, you can click close or just come back to the dashboard. And let's go take a look at managing your account. So right here is where my little picture is. And your little icon here is where you manage your account. And here you can do a lot more than simply manage it. You can set the project settings, you can determine when notifications are sent, download a desktop version of the app. And I'd like to just take a second to talk about that. UXPin does contain a desktop version of the application. The problem with the application, especially for this course, is that if it's open, you also should have the UXPin website open as well, your site on UXPin. So to avoid confusion, I'm just going to be working on the online version. You can also determine where notifications are sent. If you click the integrations link, right here, you can even integrate Slack, Typekit, and JIRA into your UXPin workflow and you can also install the UXPin Photoshop and Sketch plugins, which we'll get into a little bit later in the course. So we're just going to click this close button here to return to the main dashboard. To create a new project, you just click this button right here, the new project button. And you'll get an alert, and you give your project a name. So I'll just call this one test. And click the create new project button. And you're brought here. Now this brings you to where you want to start, or create a new prototype. And you can start from scratch, with a brand new prototype, a blank canvas, or if you already have the files on-hand and prepared for use in UXPin, you can drag and drop them into this side of the screen. Now that includes any files created using either the Photoshop of Sketch plugins. And again, we'll get into that later in the course. In either case, you'll be taken to the editor. So you click new prototype, which opens up, and you can now start to build your project. If you want to return to the dashboard from the editor, you click this little icon right here. And you'll be taken back to the dashboard. Now there isn't much to look at here, if I go back to projects, because I haven't done much. So I'll just go back to projects. And I'm going to come here and I'm going to open an existing project. Now I can edit the design or I can take a look at the preview. So if I click edit design, you're taken to your canvas. Now if you look down here at the bottom, on the dashboard, you'll see a button that says add UX document. So if I click that, three very important documents become available to you. And they are why UX is short for user experience. And we're going to look at those three in the next exercise.
