Channel packed textures in HDRP
- [Instructor] Hi there, today we're going to look at channel packing for HDRP lit shaders. Now, if you're not familiar with what channel packing is. It's basically taking eight bit files. In other words grayscale images and packing them into RGB files. And this allows you to use less space on the disk and make your scenes more efficient. Now, some of this has been built into unity and so you should be using channel pack textures for certain types of channels. So let's go ahead and take a look at how this works. So, I'm going to select the sphere and let's go into our temp folder. So, we'll just use this as our working area. So I'm going to go ahead and right click and create a material. And the material I want to create is HDRP lit and we can just give it a new name. Let's just call this my material or something like that. And let's go ahead and left click and drag it onto the sphere. Now, when we create this type…
