How does it work?

- [Instructor] Object detection as the name suggests, is basically pointing a device to a real world object, and detecting that an object is present, so that we can overlay virtual content, or info on it. It works in a similar way as image detection. To create an app with object detection functionality, we first take a 3D point cloud scan, of the object that we want to detect. We then add that object file in our object library, inside our unity project. We then combine the app and deploy it on our device, and when we point our device to the object that we previously scanned, it marks the object as detected. For object detection to work, you will need to choose your objects carefully. The objects that you choose should not be too large or too small. So both a micro SD card or the tree won't work. Also, make sure that your object is highly textured or complex, and it should not be reflective. In the next few videos, you will see how you can determine if an object is suitable for detection or not. That's all for this video, and I'll see you in the next one.
