- [Narrator] In the interests of being thorough, what we want to look at here are a set of controls that allow us to affect highlights mid tones and shadows in the scene in a slightly different way. These being Slope, Toe and Shoulder controls that are based on an S light curve that measures and adjusts the values in our sale. Slope as we adjust this value actually affects the steepness of the main part of the S curve that is being used behind the scenes for the tone mapper, this essentially equating to mid tones in our image. As you can see, large values that make the slope steeper, now give the image more contrast, while lower values make the slope shallower those causing the image to look more washed out. Thus, giving those an easy way to either flatten out or increase the separation between the light and dark portions of our scene.
