- [Instructor] Geometry brushes are a great way to quickly populate your scene with stand in models so that you can start to get a sense of the overall composition and scale. This is sometimes referred to as blocking out a level. In the place mode, go ahead and head to the geometry tab and select a box and drag it out into the scene. Now, I want to call your attention to the difference between a BSP, or geometry brush box, and something like this cube here. On the surface, they seem very similar, however, if you notice, the cube has a different icon here. That's what's known as a static mesh as opposed to our box here, which is a BSP brush. You can also tell the difference by the options in the details panel. Let's go ahead and delete the cube here and work with our BSP or binary space partitions.
