Decals

- [Instructor] Deferred decals are a special type of asset. But they're so versatile, I had to include them here. You can find decals in the place modes under visual effects. Think of a decal as a volume containing a material overlay. In empty space, they are not much to look at. But the moment they overlap a mesh, the decal is applied to the surface. This is pretty handy if you don't want a stain or sticker to hang slightly off the surface they're supposed to be stuck to. Here's the one we made for the course. So let's break it down. There are two parts of a decal. The deferred decal actor, which is what we placed into the scene, and the decal material, which is applied to it. The decal actor has a few relevant parameters such as decal size or the sort order in case you have multiple decals overlapping each other.
