Animating with skeletal meshes

- [Instructor] You've heard all about static meshes, but now it's time to talk about skeletal ones. These are a special type of mesh anchored to a bone structure or skeleton. And once properly rigged, skeletal meshes can be driven by a variety of animations, making them extremely versatile. Now character animation isn't exactly within the scope of this fundamentals course, but we can still explore the tools so you know what you're looking for when it's time to learn more. Plus there are some extremely valuable ways to apply these features without much fuss. If we click on one of the animated characters, you can get see the skeletal mesh slotted in. Let's open it up and look around. This tab at the top shows the various editors that can be called up to manipulate everything about this actor.
