What is the Sequencer?

- [Instructor] Before we start to use a tool it is oftentimes a good idea to get a high level overview of what the tool is, and what it can help us accomplish when we work with it on our project. So what exactly is Sequencer? Well, Sequencer is a set of tools inside Unreal that make it possible for us to use camera tracks to edit and cut between cameras inside any of our unreal levels. Although sequencer actually lets us do much more than that as we can also use it to affect options and the state of static meshes inside a level. Going even further, it can also give us control over skeletal mesh animations. And so to describe it as just a tool for editing cameras would actually be doing it a big disservice. Now throughout this particular course we will be focusing on using sequencer to control cameras as this is the simplest form of control that it grants us. But we will touch on editing and adjusting object properties as well. And controlling skeletal mesh animations though, will be left for a more advanced course. Knowing that Sequencer is more than just a camera cutting tool is an important piece of information that we need to keep in mind as we move forward, although hopefully as we progress through the course we will actually gain a better insight into just what Sequencer is capable of.
