- [Instructor] This course assumes a basic understanding of the Unreal Engine Editor and its materials and lighting system. If you need, my Unreal Essential Training course will set you up with a broad foundation. When learning any new software, it's nice to build on any experience you may have in other areas. Experience with navigating around 3D software is really helpful, and any of these tools should prepare you well. We'll also be using a variety of file formats Knowing what software produces which formats can go a long way. Any experience creating digital content, be it images, 3D models, CAD, or video all helps. That said, this course is focused more on specific issues and techniques, so you should be able to follow along with your own project if you like. There are some things you need in order to use the exercise files. First off, you need the Epic Games Launcher. You'll use this launcher to download Unreal Engine 4 and the associated plugins. When preparing this course, we used the Unreal Studio Datasmith plugin to handle the architecture files. For more info on that process, check out my Revit to Unreal course. The Substance plugin isn't required, but will go a long way in bringing your material library to life with HD texture maps. Finally, if you have plans to package and distribute your project, you'll need Visual Studio installed. Next up, please watch the exercise files segment to make sure you're well equipped to follow along at home. to make sure you're well equipped to follow along at home.
