- [Instructor] Amongst the plethora of tools that have been added to the 3.1 through to 3.3 updates in V-Ray some of the most prolific in terms of sheer number that is can be found in the maps and materials categories. Indeed, in these first of a number of exercises that will focus on both maps and materials we have not one but two small and yet very powerful features that we want to take a look at. The first of which is the new GGX BIDF mode that was added to the V-Ray material in the 3.3 update. To show how this can affect the look of a material we have a simple scene set up here with a rough sculpt of a dog's head, a doberman to be exact, that has had a gold type V-Ray material applied to it. Lighting in the scene is being provided by a V-Ray dome light that has had an outdoor HDRI mapped to it. Hence the sky reflections that we can see in this initial render. Now the material that we are looking at here is using the reflection gloss in this value of 0.9 with the default Blinn BRDF…
