The V-Ray Instancer

- [Instructor] Having taken a quick look in the previous exercise at some of the updates made to V-Ray Proxies, and what we want to do now is take a look at yet another tool that has been added to V-Ray in order to help us render extremely high polygon count scenes. This being the V-Ray Instancer that was added in V-Ray 3.1. To demonstrate what this can do for us and to show the basics of how we go about using it, we have a start scene here with a simple landscape setup that we want to scatter some trees on. The problem if I just select the hillside terrain and then jump into the utilities tab and hit the measure button, is that we are looking at a surface area here of about 1.2 square kilometers which is going to need a lot of trees adding in order to get a decent coverage. Now to a lot of 3S Max users, this would instantly suggest making use of particle flow in order to do the instancing, scattering and randomization for us, and if I go ahead and hit the six key in order to open up…
