- As we work through this V-Ray 3 Essential Training course I will be doing my best to keep you informed as to the location of tools in the UI and the keystrokes used in keyboard shortcuts as I access and make use of them. It is worth noting however that the course has, to an extent, been put together with the assumption that you have at least a basic working knowledge of the 3ds Max application. And by that I mean that you are reasonably familiar with its UI in general, and that you know how to perform basic in-application tasks that would be common to any and all workflows and pipelines. If you are new to 3ds Max then I would recommend that you check out some of the great titles already found here on the lynda.com online training library. Perhaps focusing initially on the Essential Training titles before moving onto more complex subjects. You may also find that a basic understanding of photography, as well as perhaps a smattering of compositing skills can help make some of the tools and terminology used in this course a little more understandable and therefore more accessible for use on everyday production work. Now whilst these extra skills can be helpful, they are by no means a requirement for you to both work through and thoroughly benefit from this V-Ray 3 for 3ds Max Essential Training course.
