Male: At this point, we've discussed how to know what frame to edit on. And we've been considering how movement and dialogue affect our perception of the story. Now, I'd like to go a little deeper and discuss the various impacts of cutting dialogue. You may remember this area of our edit of Magellan when Tiana insults Magellan, telling him that she, wouldn't be caught dead going to the dance with you. In our first edit, we cut the area like this. >> Female: I never said that freak. I wouldn't be caught dead going to the dance with you. Male: Note that we have Tiana's dialogue finishing before we cut to Magellan. This has a very specific effect. When we cut from a character who is talking to someone who isn't, we emphasize the line that we've just come from. In this case, it's her line, I wouldn't be caught dead going to the dance with you.
