How appropriate lighting can enhance your video productions
Using the same subject at the same location with the same props and just using slightly different lighting approaches can help you enhance your video productions. Let's see how we made a girl doing her homework look like she was studying at home or at the school's library by simply switching one light. For our first set up, We wanted to create the late night study session at home. The lighting needed to convey a sense of time and place and focus the viewer's attention on the subject. We used a couple of lamps as our practical lights and we kept them on all the time. The lamp helped to evoke the warm cozy mood we were trying to achieve. It also helped separate the subject from the background. For the first shot, we used only two small overhead bulbs and the practical lamp. It was okay. But it was a bit dark and the scene lacked any depth. With only the LED light on, we enhanced the laptop's light. Notice the big difference between a shot that includes the LED light and one that…
