- Hi, I'm Eduardo Angel. Welcome to the One Person Crew Video Productions Tips and Tricks. This week, I would like to share with you how to find interesting subjects especially when working in foreign countries. Okay, Let me tell you how I find subjects in foreign countries. I asked all my friends on Facebook if they knew any Japanese artisans I could contact. A day later, a friend from high school connected me with a couple that owns a historic cinema in downtown Kumamoto. I met with the couple over amazing ramen and they were very happy to participate on my artisans project. The problem was that the cinema had been renovated and while historical and beautiful it wasn't what I was looking for. A couple of days later, I met with the couple again, and they told me about their friend who is one of the last 12 Higo-zogan artisans working in Japan. Of course, I heard 12 last artisans. I went crazy. The very next day I met with Mr. Kintaro Inada and he allowed me to document his work for half an hour, 45 minutes. And those are the images you are seeing right now. The couple who I met days earlier became my fixers my translators and most importantly, my friends. So the main lessons, one be creative and two, keep it simple. Ask other people for recommendations and you probably will find what you're looking for.
