The 1 Person Crew approach
- Running a marathon with 10,000 people is an incredible experience. But you don't need a giant crowd to stay in shape or to improve your running times. It's wonderful to collaborate with others for a few weeks or a few months, but as the demand for high quality video increases, the resources to satisfy that demand, time and money are quickly decreasing. Learning how to work more efficiently with less resources is what I called the One Person Crew approach. I'm recording this intro with two cameras, and I'm recording both cameras to external monitor recorders that are also recording into solid state drives. From these external monitors, I can check my framing, my exposure, and I can control my cameras. And as you can see, the camera B is on a motorized slider that I actually can control from a phone. In this course, we will cover many topics, including the advantages and challenges of shooting with multiple cameras, how to increase the value of your productions through camera movement and cinematic composition, where to find the best music and sound effects, and of course, we'll be talking about how to transform a standard living room into a professional looking set and how we could use the same lighting gear to reproduce very different genres. My goal is to share the many practical tips and tricks that got me an Emmy, as a director of photography, and that I have been fine tuning for many years, shooting in over 60 countries in six continents, very often as a one person group.
