- One of the biggest challenges in the current transmedia environment is delivery specs, which includes different codecs, or formats for encoding your video, progressive verses interlaced, different frame rates, different frame sizes, color spaces, and more. So you need to consider your intended delivery platforms and learn about their specs in order to make technical decisions before you shoot. So let's start with one of the most important technical decisions you need to make at the beginning of a project, which is choosing your acquisition frame size. These days, all videos must maintain a 16 by nine aspect ratio. Well, there's actually an exception to this, of course. And it's the big one. It's the Facebook video spec for shorter videos. And actually Instagram has one for even shorter videos than that, which is the exact opposite, meaning vertical nine by 16.
