- [Instructor] There are additional tools and techniques for drawing shapes and masks and adjusting those. Let's take a look. Here I have a project that has three overlapping shapes, or three overlapping masks. You can see them in the object list. These have been renamed to match the parts they're trying to separate. This is a common technique for masking or rotoscoping, create simpler masks and overlap them to create more complex final result. If I look at the alpha channel, I can see that the overlap is quite nice. This will also help with rotoscoping when it's time to animate the masks. These shapes are either x-splines or b-splines. We haven't used the b-spline tool yet, but it's right here above the x-spline. B-splines and x-splines are identical except for one feature. I'll zoom in and show you. The arm shape is an x-spline.
