Aligning the desired outcomes with scope, budget and ROI

- Before making the commitment and investment to livestream, you need to balance your expectations with your capabilities, as well as the budget you're working with. The questions you need to ask yourself before moving forward include, how much money am I willing to invest in this? Do I have the personnel, experience, technical capabilities, and the right equipment to do this on my own? If not, do I have enough money to hire a vendor that specializes in live streaming? If so, how many cameras? Do we want to integrate PowerPoint, a live survey, or even chat functionality? What's the audio strategy? Are we talking about a single podium, or a panel with multiple microphones? Do we need lighting for the cameras or can we go with available house lights? As you're starting to realize, a webcast can become very complicated and expensive very quickly. Early in the process you need to determine if the effort, resources, and costs are worth the return.
