- I can't tell you how many times an event ends or production has been posted online, and a few weeks later or maybe as much as six months later, I get a call, oh, we need to change such and such or pull out this person or do a new version or this graphic gets changed 'cause we need to update the information. So at the outset of a project, determine if there are elements that might be very likely to be swapped out for future updates or reversions. If you do have these kind of updates in mind, then you want to designate all of your content for long-term archiving. Now, one key to good archiving is file cleanup. I often find myself with files on numerous cloud storage systems, you know, clients invite me to so many kinds of folders on Dropbox or Box or wherever, and so you want to be sure that all your vital source media is stored in one place, tagged with your primary project name and date before you start doing your archiving.
