- Alright, another big part of pre-production is assembling your crew, the people that are going to actually help you make this thing and who are going to be there to hopefully, help you make it, awesome. So before we do anything else, let's quickly just define what makes up a film crew. So obviously, you've got the director, which is most likely you, the director is the creative force behind the whole production. It's their vision that is driving everything. And they are also kind of the captain of the ship. They are the ones who are running the set on a daily basis. The producer, also very possibly you in this case, is dealing with sort of the logistical things that have to do with the production. Making sure that the crew is hired and fed, that the locations are found, that the schedule is set up that everyone knows where they need to be when they need to be there.
