- Let's talk about B-roll or the footage that makes your video visually interesting and entertaining. When thinking about B-roll, think in sequences. What's the primary action you're going to highlight? Dan, walking into the room. That's our primary action. So what happens before and what happens after? Before? He walks down the highway. The action happens, he opens the door, then he enters the room. Now, let's think about wide, medium and close. The wide shot is him walking down the hallway establishing the entire scene. Through a medium shot in showing a little bit more detail of him walking. Now, that beautiful closeup of him opening that door. Including the wide, medium and close shots allows you to tell your story visually. That's the most important thing. B-roll allows you to get creative, shoot from high up, down low, show details, put in movement. Tell the story in a fun way. But if you're going to move, make sure you hold the shot after the move for at least a count of five…
