- In this movie, we're going to take a look at what video editing software you can use to review and organize your footage as well as what external drives you can bring with you along the way to help maximize your post-production process. So the first step to backing up your life involves just making sure, after your night shoot, that you allocate some time to dump your footage from your memory card, your SD cards, your compact flash cards, onto some external drives. By external drives, why I meant plural is that you want to definitely back it up to one external drive, but I recommend two. So, and when you back it up to another drive, preferably it's the same type of drive that you have on the road. Recommend using an app called Carbon Copy Cloner.
