Being a referee between post and your client

- Your client is paying the bills, so they deserve to have input during the post-production process. Just how much input and how that information is conveyed to your post-production team should be in your control. You are the point of contact, not post. Your client should never have a direct line of communication to post-production. Why? Well, you are the one who set the budget and the production timeline. Therefore, you have to control the flow of information to post-production. If your client communicates directly with post, the post team might start making changes without consulting you. That will eat into your post-production time and it's entirely possible the changes they're making are wrong for the project. Now, they've completely wasted time doing something that wasn't necessary. Not to mention, post will be getting feedback from two different directions, you and the client.
