How to use the exercise files

- [Instructor] If you have access to the exercise files for this course, I recommend that you followed along with me. Inside the Exercise Files folder you'll find the different chapters as well as the source files for each one. Now, when you open up one of the projects you might find something that looks like this. These color bars indicate that certain footage items are missing. So to relink those items, let's go over here to our search bar, we'll type in missing, and you'll see After Effects allows us to search for missing effects, missing fonts, in this case, we're looking for missing footage. It'll filter everything out and only show you what's missing. So to make this easier, let's go ahead and click on a footage item. We'll hit return on the keyboard and we'll copy that file name. So now when we double click on that same footage item inside of our dialog box we can go to the Exercise Files folder and do a search. We'll paste that in there and you'll see that, there it is, we'll click it. And when we open After Effects will do its best to relink the rest. In this case, there's a couple items that weren't really linked, and most likely there'll be the JPEGs that we'll use in this course. Go ahead and double click on each one. And in the Exercise Files folder we'll go to Media, Unsplash and we'll look for each one. So this one's cliffs of insanity. We'll say Open, that we'll rethink and we'll do the same for the landscape. And with that done you should have a properly working source file. There's another item in the exercise files folder called text presets. And it's these .ffx files that we'll use later in the course. So to install these into your system, I'm going to refer to the help file at Adobe. And this webpage has the file location for where you want to install it if you're on windows and if you're on Mac. So, since I'm on a Mac I'll target my Documents folder, Adobe, and since we're using After Effects CC 2017, we'll go in there and you'll see User Presets. we'll copy our ffx files and paste them in here. And lastly, for our Premiere project inside of our exercise files, you'll find one Premiere project. And if we double click that we'll see that inside We have a bin for all of our sequences and these sequences refer back to the chapter and movie that we're currently working on. So with that out of the way let's go ahead and get started.
