Camera movement tips
- If composition is important, camera movement is super important, because we all associate certain types of movements with emotional states, whether we like it or not. Typically, left to right shows the progression of time, and it's the way we read and write in the Western world. Left to right movement feels normal, positive, and natural. In most Westerns, the good guy enters from left and the bad guy enters from right. You probably didn't know that, but your brain did. If we have a train or a car moving in one direction, we should keep it going in that direction in the following shots, unless of course it has reached its destination. As subject moving towards the camera might be perceived as more powerful than one moving away from the camera.
