- Depending on the type of cards you have, you're going to need some sort of card reader. Now, some laptops and computers will have this built in, but more and more, this is something that's being left off of many machines to save space, as they try to shrink the computers down. In this case, with the Microsoft Surface, I'm using a real simple card reader I mentioned earlier. It looks like a USB thumb drive, but instead of actually having data, there's a slot on top, here, where you can slip in a micro SD card, or a full sized SD card, allowing me to have a fast USB3 card reader. Now, this is a cool, professional transfer, here, and its small format makes it easy. I typically treat this as my spare card reader, but due to it small size, it's easy to keep in my bag. You may also want a multi format reader. Something like this one here allows for many different card types.
