Choose frame rate

- Choosing a frame rate is another decision you should make before rolling. 30 frames a second is a very standard frame rate and great for most video. I direct a lot of documentary style productions so I often choose 24 frames a second which kind of mimics the old film frame rate and I feel like it has a slightly softer, less digitally crunchy kind of look and feel that I prefer. The added bonus of shooting 24 frames a second versus 30 is well there's six fewer frames per second to store and compress and all the rest of it. This can effect your render times to be quite frank so it depends what kind of system your rendering on. So again frame rate effects many different components of your edit. The exception would be if you're shooting something moving really fast, race cars for example, then of course you're gonna wanna go with a higher frame rate like 60 frames a second for more smooth action.
