- Personally, I have found in the world of video that about 95% of all the problems I ever have in the field are cable problems. Now, that may seem a bit trite, but it's actually true. A bad cable means no good video signal. The wrong connection type means you're stuck there looking at your device wondering how you're going to plug in. Having enough cables to manage your data and your video signals is going to be important. Now, each laptop or mobile workstation is going to have different requirements, but I'd like to give you a few things to consider. First up, you have to think about your connection types. Now, this particular laptop or mobile workstation offers three important connection types. First up, we have a standard USB connection which is great. It's going to be using the USB 3 protocol which is relatively fast. I find that I can actually use that to back up to hard drives.
