Choosing the right white balance

- When a camera has a proper white balance, it's going to be able to express colors accurately. When white balance is off, the camera begins to show a cast or a tint. This is really affected by the lighting conditions for your shoot environment. So for example, right now we've got the camera set to 5,600 degrees Kelvin. I can change this with a simple tap and you'll find different presets for different lighting conditions. Natural sunlight, incandescent light which is 3,200 degrees Kelvin and much cooler, giving the shot a bit of a bluish look. And you see as we go through different presets how the light changes and the color takes on different properties. Now, you can use something like a light meter to measure the scene and dial in the exact number and this is one of the most accurate ways to do this. Companies like Illuminati and others make easy to use light instruments that you could simply use to measure the light temperature on set and then get the accurate information that you…
