Cine lenses
- Most cine lenses offer a very smooth internal mechanism with long rotation angles, making focus pulling more precise. Another big difference is focus breathing, which is usually very noticeable with still lenses. Some cine lenses are known to offer exceptionally high contrast, practically no color fringes, even at an aperture of 1/4. If you're zooming in or out with a zoom cinema lens, the focus distance remains constant. We also get less distortion and more consistent sharpness. And some cine lenses might be the perfect tool for the job as it's the case with anamorphic lenses. But of course, all of these features come with a price and cine lenses tend to be bigger and heavier than still lenses. Now, if mobility is not an issue, for example, if you're shooting corporate interviews, short films or music videos, I would seriously consider adding cine lenses to your kit.
