Compressing files for mobile devices

- Earlier, we took a look at Adobe Media Encoder. And it has several presets optimized for downloadable media. Let's switch to a different tool, which is Apple Compressor. Compressor is a very straightforward tool. To start, you add a file in. You can drag this in or click to navigate. Choose a movie that you need to compress for delivery. Now, you can choose settings. You'll notice that they offer many choices here. Adding to your iTunes library will put it directly in the library. But you'll notice many other choices here as well, including presets specifically optimized for podcasting, H.264 for video podcasting, AAC for audio podcasting, or the more broadly compatible, but not as space efficient, mp3 format. The AAC is far newer, but may not be compatible with older devices. Generally, I'll do mp3 for audio content and H.264 for video podcasting. When you select one of those pieces, you can click Ok.
