Creating an executive summary

- The next piece inside your scoping document is the executive summary. And it's named this because it's often what an executive would read as they're looking at the project. It's a short, written overview about what the project is all about. In half a page to one page, it describes what this project is, what makes it unique. It's very easy for a decision-maker to read and understand. They won't need any background information, and if they read the executive summary, they'll understand what the work is that's being done, why it's being done, and why it's important. This is really critical, because if you don't have this in there, it can often lead to your project having difficulties with getting properly funded, or it may even end up canceled as companies need to make changes.
