- So, when you're on a lower budget or you need a specialty fixture, there's the do-it-yourself approach. Now, one example of that is this China ball. And the way this is made is from hardware store parts, using an acrylic globe. (thumping) And what I've done here is I have actually drilled four holes in this using pipe parts and an electric cord I've run down through the pipe, and put a socket on the end. And then I'm using zip ties to hold it in place. Now, the reason why I'm using zip ties is simple. It's actually shock. When this moves around, if I was to use metal, it would create more shock, and it would also make noise. This one doesn't. The way that I've used this light in the past is actually really interesting. I have been able to put it on the end of a boom pool or a paint stick, and actually have someone on a battery carry it around, which adds a fill light to doing a walk and talk or something like that. It's a semi-dimmable. But again, I have a tungsten bulb in here. So…
