Decide on your personal style and brand

- When creating your video ad, it's really important to make sure that it's in line with your brand's style. With working with large companies in the past, one thing that they do have is a series of brand guidelines that make sure that the message is consistent across all different forms of mediums, both online and offline. One thing that's really awesome about your Instagram page, Lindsey as well as your website is that everything feels aligned with your brand, so Lindsey I was wondering if you could talk a little bit about the decisions behind your brand? You know I've noticed this very light, and there's a lot of vibrant colors and I was wondering if you could speak towards that and how both your website, and your Instagram page, and your Facebook page are all in line with that same type of style. - Yes, so from personally for Mothersun and the Captain, all of my branding colors revolves around my artwork, so I do watercolors, I do illustrations and paintings and from there I grab the colors that are in the artwork and I don't really go outside of those colors. So, on my Instagram post, they can be anywhere between, amongst the pinks that I use, the yellows, I have this cool jade, teal color that I use on my website, and so I make sure that everything is really in alignment with color and so sometimes I like to do as you scroll through my Instagram feed, sometimes I'll do pinks and teals and then you'll see it evolve into purples and pinks and then oranges and yellow. So, because I'm an artist, so Mothersun and the Captain is an artwork based company I like to really tell my story through color. And you can see that across all the platforms that I use. So I do keep that very consistent, and then the imagery that I use it's either, I have a whole system so I and then I play amongst the system, so one thing that people love are quotes and I'm, they are some of my most popular posts and there's not even necessarily quotes that I may say but I find quotes that really represent the brand. - Inspirational. - Yeah, and then I say, I write my own copy of course about why it really resonates with me and then I always give credit to you know the person who actually made it so I balanced the quotes, they're white I always make them white. So that there's pops of white among the color, and then I'll balance it with professional lifestyle shots of the product, of personal images of my daughter Soleil and I and then other people wearing my stuff. Whether it be influencers or customers and so, and with that I use a program so that I can see what it looks like before I post it and that I know it's within that story that I tell and it never, it doesn't really change much. I stay really consistent in the layout, the way that it looks every four images I'll make sure that there's white, every four images I'll make sure there's my artwork and then I sprinkle everything in between. It's very thought out. - Very cool, I think one thing that I wanted to mention from what I saw of your brand, and you talking about some colors like teal and certain vibrant pinks as well as even orange and red as how sun plays into your whole brand right? You're, to me that's almost a form of where you come from, location being Santa Barbra right? So where you have gorgeous sunsets as well as the teals which could potentially represent the water and how that plays thoroughly throughout your brand as well as your lifestyle. I think that's just so cool and also consistent. It is who you are and it clearly comes across in all of the products that you make. So I thought that was really cool in terms of just basically being able to go with your brand, and I wanna kinda offer up an analogy and that is if you go on Facebook, are you more likely to share a video ad that has all over it written like, hey buy my product? Or are you more likely to share something that you think is going to be valuable towards your community, like maybe a tip or a trick? The other thing I want to talk about in terms of like personalization, or what we came up with is this kind of play of contrast. So we're putting together a lot of pretty images that look really vivid and real and will get people hopefully excited about what your brand has to stand for as well as like the color and vibrancy behind your artwork. But also, I wanted to play with that sort of real level of being able to say that although these images might look perfect, they aren't necessarily perfect in the way they came together. So we're gonna take some perfect images with our six second video bumper ads and maybe play with a little bit of contrast in terms of the text that we overlay on that video to get people to go oh wow, like what is this person about? And want to find out more and then watch that video ad piece where you are the main person talking behind it and telling us what you're all about. So I'm very excited to take all this information of Lindsey's brand and put this together, into a concise cohesive video that people will hopefully love to watch and find out more about her. Her existing and new audiences alike.
