Deciding what camera is right for you

- As we are facing tighter travel restrictions and higher baggage fees, traveling light and working with less people, with smaller crews, is becoming the norm. But to pack light, you need smaller and lighter gear. Now, there are two things to consider when choosing a camera. First, the story should decide what camera we need and not the other way around. And second, there is no perfect camera. Every single one will have advantages and disadvantages. Some cameras will perform great in low light, while others are better at reproducing skin tones. Some will give you features like super slowmo or timelapses, while others shoot raw. Sometimes high dynamic range is critical, but sometimes what we need is nonstop recording. For one project, I might need a small camera that can be controlled from a smartphone, but for another one, I might need a cinema camera with all the bells and whistles.
