- Let's talk a little bit about SEO when it comes to video. Now for those of you who may not be familiar, SEO stands for search engine optimization. This is making it so that your videos or any content is just more discoverable in search engines like Google, or in this case, primarily YouTube. Out of all the video platforms, YouTube is the one that is the most built on the back end of a search engine because it's owned by Google. Google is their parent company. Google also indexes video sources and does prioritize YouTube. Why wouldn't it, it owns it? But there are other video platforms as well, and not all of them rely as heavily on search as Google and YouTube. Many of them also, for discoverability, rely on a feature called sharing. In particular LinkedIn video and Facebook rely a lot on sharing for distribution, and the more they're shared by more prominent users, the more discoverability and distribution they have.
