Exporting an archival copy of your screencast

- Depending upon your software application, it may give you the ability to export a high-quality video file. And in this case, I'm not talking about H.264 or H.265 video. Those formats are great for the web, but they're difficult to edit with or recompress because every time you save them or reprocess them, it's going to lose a lot of quality. If you intend to back this material up because you want to keep it future-proof, have the ability to re-encode to some new file format, or re-edit it in the future, making an archival quality backup is important. In this case, we're going to be looking at things like Apple ProRes or the CineForm codec or you might find a high-quality AVI file. It's going to vary from application to application.
