- Okay, we've learned a lot about softening and diffusing the sunlight and the different types of diffusion, frames and stands. So, let's take a closer look at some of the different type of materials we can use to bounce the sunlight. Let's start with fabrics. Collapsible disk reflectors like these come in a variety of sizes and are great to use when shooting stills. But with video, they tend to shimmer if it's breezy outside. I've had some issues with them in the past and I rarely use them anymore. But in a pinch, they can come in handy. Now, if it's not windy at all, then they're great, lightweight and very portable solutions. Fabric reflectors also come in larger sizes like four by four and six by six, that can be mounted into frames like these. I like this option better for fabrics because they're bigger, tighter and the light is more even. The fabrics come in a variety of textures depending on the look you want.
