- When you and all other creative stakeholders have signed off on the film, which can take a very long time as it moves through the refinement process, you're very close. This means that you've hit picture lock, and the film is ready for its final polish. Now, depending on your post production workflow, this maybe the time to send the film to the online process where it's professionally color corrected and sound mixed, and if applicable, motion graphics and titling may be added. Now, if you can work with these types of professionals, you will be amazed at what they can do to get the picture and sound quality perfect. Now if you're doing the finishing steps yourself, as I am in the Project RELO doc, then you'll take the pseudo polish that you put on it earlier, and really ramp it up in terms of making sure it's to spec regarding color and audio.
