Hardware options for recording screens on a Mac

- Another option for recording a computer screen is to rely upon hardware. Many folks use external disc recorders to record professional video signals. These can be used in a variety of environments from field production to traditional broadcast video. Here, I have a single unit and it's one of many types out there. This one is from a company called Atomos. What you'll notice is that it combines a screen with touchscreen controls and the ability to bring video in via the HTMI cable. I've used these simple USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 adapter that goes to an HTMI cable which then runs into the device. Now, if we look at the back of this device, you'll see a couple of other things in play. First up is it's actually recording to an SSD hard drive. These are the same types of hard drives that often go into computers or laptops and it just slides in like a cartridge. It slides into the slot and you get high capacity recording for 4k…
