- When it comes to webcasting, there are a lot of options out there when considering which channel or CDN to use for your livestream. In fact, there are some really great free platforms that I use all the time, especially when trying to reach the maximum number of viewers. Both Facebook Live and YouTube are great platforms even in pro settings. They offer robust global networks, multiple bit rate capabilities, marketing automation functionality, and integrated analytics platforms. At the time of this recording, Vimeo even announced it's getting into the livestream business. All of these free and social media-operated CDNs are fantastic and allow you to communicate at no cost. But they're not the perfect fit for every webcast. If your content is for public consumption and privacy isn't an issue, I always steer my clients in this direction, as it provides the most bang for practically no buck.
