- One of the best ways to keep your project running smoothly is to be sure everyone's on the same page from the start. Everyone wants to get right to the shoot. I understand that on projects. But I believe that every day that you plan ahead of the shoot is money saved, and you'll have better quality in your end product. Let's talk about what kind of information your ENG crew might need for a kind of news-style coverage of your event or a person. First of all, who is the main subject of your video? That's going to be very important information to communicate to the crew. How long or how much material are you trying to gather in the end product? Are you trying to tape back-to-back an entire speech or do you really, actually, want to lift out a small portion of the speech? If you decide you want a small portion of the speech, then you might want to make sure the crew understands which portion it is.
