- The most common kind of interview you're going to do is a single person interview. This is where your subject's alone on camera, and you're behind the scenes asking the questions. We've gone over how to frame this, and how to set it up. Now, how do we actually do the interview? I like to break the interview down into five parts. This is regardless of whether it's a CEO delivering a statement, a brand ambassador talking about the new initiative or an investigative documentary. The first section of an interview is the pre-production planning. May ask, I thought the interview started when I started asking questions. But how do you know what questions to ask if you haven't done the planning beforehand? Know what content you're going in to get. The second part of the interview starts when your subject comes into the room. This is your chance to establish a rapport with them, especially if they're uncomfortable being on camera.
