Just because you build it doesn’t mean they will come

- If you build it they will come. That bold vision worked in the movie Field of Dreams, but live streaming your event is a far cry from the fantasy of that film. In the previous section, I offered some justifications to go live, but what good is your webcast if no one's there to watch it. It's on very rare occasions that you can rely on a viral promotion for a live event unless you're the NFL, the Star Wars franchise, or one of my previous clients, the ALS Association, with the ice bucket change. It's like catching lightening in a bottle. All of these are the exception to the rule of not needing to invest in promoting you stream. And, even for the mentioned organizations, we all know that they promote even the most viral of content. Now the level of promotion you commit to is a decision you'll need to make based on the project's scope and budget.
