Lights for a large room

- Have you ever walked into a large room and thought to yourself, how am I going to light this? Happens all the time. Large rooms can be difficult, and putting a lot of fixtures up might not be the best way. I like using higher output lights like an Arri 650 or 1K open face tungsten lights. By bouncing the light into a corner or on the ceiling, you can bring up the overall brightness in a room so it doesn't look like you're shooting in a cave of darkness. Now you can focus on lighting your talent with soft light, achieving a much more balanced shot. High output LED panels are also great for boosting the overall light in a space, but they have to match the color temperature of the other lights you're using. I generally don't recommend mixing LED and tungsten together unless they've been tested to match. You could run into some serious color issues. To fix this have some color correction gels handy to correct them. Now you won't have to fix it in post.
